Johannesburg – The City of Johannesburg could have a new mayor soon. The Metro is set to hold a special meeting to elect a new mayor.
The special meeting follows the death of Mayor Geoff Makhubo from Covid-19 complications.
It is reported that Finance MMC Jolidee Matongo has been earmarked by the ANC to take over the role of the late mayor.
The party is set to hold a briefing on Tuesday to discuss matters of succession and coalitions.
