AmaZulu are set to renew their efforts to break into South Africa’s footballing elite as they sent a message to the league by snapping up a player targeted by the likes of Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and even champions Mamelodi League.
Usuthu were left disappointed with their 2021/22 campaign but ahead of the new season the club, first cleared out the dead wood from the squad with 15 releases, and since have announced multiple signings.
The latest is a bit surprising, as Bafana Bafana midfielder Ethan Brooks has been unveiled in Durban.
Brooks is a player with a potential future abroad and has been linked with the so-called ‘big three’ but AmaZulu have clearly convinced Brooks of their ambition.
TS Galaxy were unlikely to hold onto Brooks after he made his Bafana Bafana debut during the course of the last season, and the 22-year-old has decided that AmaZulu are a good fit for him.
Usuthu President Sandile Zungu believes that the recruitment drive will end a wait for a trophy that has now stretched beyond 30 years.
