Johannesburg – The Automobile Association has called for clarity on how fuel levies are being allocated and managed as inland petrol prices move closer to R20 a litre.
The basic cost of petrol now makes up only 48% of the total price at the pump.
The remainder comprises levies, storage fees as well as wholesale and dealer margins.
From Wednesday, diesel will cost R1.48 more a litre. Motorists will pay R1.21 more for 95 unleaded petrol.
The AA said all the elements that comprise the fuel price need to be fully interrogated.
