BREAKING:Oliver Mtukudzi Dies

Legendary musician Oliver ‘Tuku’ Mtukudzi has died.

He passed on today aged 66 at the Intensive Care Unit at the Avenues Clinic in Harare. Information reaching iHarare indicates that the musician was hospitalised for a few days before his condition deteriorated mid afternoon today.

Tuku also recently missed the Coca Cola awards as well after suffering another health emergency.  Fellow musician Alick Macheso who won an award lamented Mtukudzi’s absence at the show.

The artist had over 60 albums to his name at the time of his death.

Calls are already being made from across the divide on Social Media for the superstar’s remains to be interred at the National Heroes Acre with Norton Legislator Themba Mliswa directly petition President Emmerson Mnangagwa to grant him National Hero status.

Music icon Oliver Mtukudzi has passed on. The Mirror has it on good authority that he died 2hrs ago in the ICU at the Avenues Clinic in Harare.

Zimbabwean musician Dr. Oliver Mtukudzi is dead. “Tuku” was a singer-songwriter with over 60 albums to his name. He was one of Africa’s top musicians. He was hospitalised last year after suffering from a heart attack. We condole with his family.
