Johannesburg – The Gautrain announced on Saturday that the operating hours for its train service will be extended to 8:30.
“In accordance with the announcement by Minister of Transport Mr Fikile Mbalula, Gautrain will expand its operating hours under Level 3 regulations from Monday, 1 June,” said the Gautrain.
They said the train service will start at 5:30 from terminal stations and continue until 8:30pm while the peak hour periods will be from 6am to 9am and 2:30pm to 8:30pm.
On weekends and public holidays trains will operate at 30-minute intervals. Train services will remain suspended until further notice.
The commuter added that the fare increase that was supposed to come into effect in June, will be delayed until later in the year.
On weekdays. Gautrain buses and midi-buses will operate during the off-peak period, but there will be no bus service on weekends and public holidays.
“We will continue to operate midi-bus routes,” said the commuter.
