Johannesburg – Some grant beneficiaries have not been paid because of a technical glitch from Sassa’s side. A lot of these pensioners and people with disabilities were expecting to get paid on Monday but would now have to wait until Tuesday afternoon to get their money.
About 83% of the beneficiaries who were supposed to be paid on Monday received double the amount they were supposed to get because of the error.
Sassa said over 400, 000 people were affected by duplicate payments. While others got double payments, others went home empty-handed.
“We are appealing to clients to please allow us time to rectify the situation. Funds will be available in the accounts by tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon,” said the Western Cape Sassa spokesperson Shivani Wahab.
Sassa said those who got paid double and had already withdrawn the money will not get aid in June.
