Johannesburg – The Justice Department s dismissing the DA’s accusations that government ministers partied with taxpayers’ money.
The DA claims ministers blew about R1.4 billion on dinners, parties and hotel accommodation over the past three years.

It singles out the Justice Department for allegedly having spent R293 million.
It said R285 million was splashed on accommodation during lockdown.
“The DA when asking this question to the minister through Parliament, didn’t ask how much did you spend on partying. They asked how much was spent on accommodation, catering and possibly entertainment during the course of your work in the past three financial years. And that’s what the minister answered,” said the Justice Department’s spokesperson, Chris Phiri.

“For them to come and present this information that this was money spent as “partying” is designed to create a particular sentiment. What is also really telling, is the time period that they use. They specify that this money was used during lockdown.
