A Kenyan athlete Joseph Kiprono was knocked down by a car on Sunday. This happened while he was leading a half-marathon in Colombia in which another competitor was reported to have collapsed and died, the organisers said.
Joseph Kiprono is a previous winner of the event. He was leading the 21 kilometer (13 mile) race in second-city Medellin when he got struck by a car that authorities said had “violated a road closure.”
Paramedics attended to him on the spot and afterwards, he was taken to hospital. He had endured cuts and bruises and later was reported by doctors to be in a good condition.
Organisers said another competitor, 38 year old man had collapsed during the race with heart problems and was pronounced dead after being taken to hospital.
