KPMG South Africa has made an appeal to the public for a second chance. The audit firm was recently implicated in corruption linked to the Gupta family and now-liquidated VBS Mutual Bank.
The chairman of KPMG South Africa is today asking for it to be seen as a changed business. It has lost several major clients over work done for the Gupta family.
The chairman has disclosed that KPMG South Africa has tried a number of things to regain trust, including appointing a new chief executive.
The audit firm has also committed to repaying R47-million in fees that it had earned from Gupta companies, but acknowledges this will happen over a period of time.
