The commission of inquiry into state capture continues in Parktown on Friday with ANC head of elections Fikile Mbalula on the stand.
Mbalula will have to answer to how he came into contact with the infamous Gupta brothers.
Mbalula will respond to allegations made in former Minister of Finance Trevor Manuel’s testimony last month.
According to Manuel’s testimony, Mbalula learnt of his promotion to sports minister at the Gupta Saxonworld compound in 2010.
Manuel also recalled a crucial national executive committee meeting that had taken place a year after Mbalula’s appointment.
The former finance minister said that Mbalula had revealed to the NEC that he’d been told of his cabinet appointment by the Gupta family.
Mbalula said he was ready to appear before the inquiry where he would put his side of the story forward.
