MTN South Africa grew its subscriber base by 7.1% at the end of March to reach 34.5 million subscribers.
It’s seen good performance in both prepaid and contracts.

The network operator said it also saw a group double-digit service revenue growth despite a challenging macro-economic environment.
The company said power cuts in South Africa have impacted network availability.

As a result, it has had to increase investment in batteries ahead of the winter period as it anticipates that the risk of power cuts may remain high.
