Johannesburg – African espionage thriller Queen Sono starring Pearl Thusi has officially been renewed for a second season.
On Tuesday, Netflix announced the news and confirmed that Pearl Thusi, Vuyo Dabula, Chi Mhende, Kate Liquorish, Enhle Mbali Mlothswa, Sechaba Morejele Khathu Ramabulana, Rob van Vuuren and Loyiso Madinga will reprise their roles.
Queen Sono was first released in February and is Netflix’s first African original series.
The second season of the series is expected to start filming later this year.
“The first season of Queen Sono marked the beginning of our journey to introduce the world to exciting stories that are made in Africa,” said Dorothy Ghettuba who leads African original series at Netflix.
