Johannesburg – According to Johannesburg Metro Police Department spokesperson Wayne Minnaar, a protest over food parcel has erupted at Booysens informal settlement in Eloff Street, Johannesburg.
Residents of the informal settlement say they have not received food parcels since the lockdown started and that they have survived by collecting food from a nearby dumpsite.

The residents blocked roads from the Eloff extension with rock and burning tires.
Ward councillor Mongameli Mnyameni, who has also been accused of ignoring residents, says he can’t interfere with the government’s food distribution programme.
