Cyril Ramaphosa had a few choice words for the nation following his re-election as the President of South Africa.
In his acceptance speech at the National Assembly, Ramaphosa spoke of serving the interest of all South Africans, not just his supporters.
“This is a deep honour for me…I’m humbled by this,” Ramaphosa told the house.
“I will be a president for all South Africans and not just a president for the African National Congress and those who voted.
“I will seek to act and be the president of all South Africans, not just for those who voted for the party I lead.
“My focus is to advance the interests of our people. In this case it will be to advance the interests of our masses still suffering from poverty, unemployment and inequality.
“We need to get down to work so that people see us address their needs and aspirations and the government working with them.”

Shortly after, The Satr reports that Ramaphosa received congratulations from several world leaders, fielding calls from Prime Minister Theresa May of the United Kingdom, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohamed bin Zayed Sultan Al Nahyan, President Joao Lourenco from Angola, Prime Minister Kjell Stefan Löfven of Sweden and President Ian Khama Khama of Botswana.
