Cape Town – Commuters and taxi drivers in the Western Cape are celebrating, with most routes open following Monday’s agreement by feuding taxi association Cata and Codeta.

The associations have been at loggerheads since the beginning of the year, resulting in deadly violence.
However, taxi drivers operating along the B97 route, which remains closed, said they also want to operate again.

The suspension of the route between Paarl and Bellville could lead to the loss of livelihoods.
The provincial government has, however, remained adamant this is in the best interest of both drivers and commuters.
