Religious leaders tell CRL they will self-regulate

Some religious leaders have told the CRL Rights Commission they’ll sort out their own problems.

This week the watchdog held a summit with religious leaders to discuss ways of tackling problems in the sector.

Michael Swain from Freedom of Religion South Africa said it’s important that the religious committee regulate itself according to its own standards.

Swain stated that the large majority of religions are not involved in illegal activity and the state must target people who are committing crimes.
