Shoprite offers R50,000 reward after liquor store robbed

Johannesburg – Shoprite is offering a R50, 000 reward for information after one of its liquor stores was robbed in Johannesburg.

The robbers made off with R300, 000 worth of alcohol.

They tunneled through a solid concrete floor to get inside the store in Newtown Junction.

The theft was discovered by a store manager. There was a large hole in the ground when she entered the store on Friday.

Shoprite says the suspects returned a few times to steal a large amount of stock which included whiskey, gin, ciders, beer, brandy, and vodka.

The thieves used electrical and stormwater tunnels beneath the shopping centre to gain access.

Shoprite says the footage shows three culprits, who were  first recorded on CCTV cameras two weeks ago, were involved
