The Soweto Derby is set to take place on November 6 at FNB Stadium and could cost Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates up to R1-million more than normal.

According to SoccerLaduma’s official website, there are reasons for this.

Covid-19 protocols, stadium rentals and the expected need for more staff will increase the expenses of planning a PSL game.

Security will be expected to check for far more than just a ticket. With vaccination cards having to be presented in addition to screening fans. They will also have to ensure social distancing between fans during the live game.

Chiefs and Pirates fans will be hoping to return live for the Soweto Derby.

Bafana Bafana welcomed 2000 fans at FNB Stadium earlier this month.

The PSL Executive Committee is currently discussing the possibility of making this happen fort he Soweto Derby. No official announcement has been made yet.
