The Bad Boys 3 movie is finally happening!

Lifestyle

It’s been 15 years since Bad Boys II hit theaters. In the decade-and-a-half that’s passed, the possibility of a third film in the franchise starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence has been teased repeatedly. Still, it’s never come to light. It looks like that is finally changing, though.

According to social media posts from both Smith and Lawrence, Bad Boys 3 is officially happening. “It’s been a LOOOONG time Coming,” Smith wrote on Instagram. “But now it’s here! [Bad Boys] for life. We back!!” Accompanying the caption was a video of the two actors, celebrating the big news. “Bad Boys 3 is happening, it’s official,” Smith screamed. This is a massive change from just a year ago when Lawrence was convinced the film would never come to be.

This news follows Sony Pictures giving the film a January 2020 release dateback in May, though without any real information. What we do know is that it seems the film is still called Bad Boys For Life, if Smith and Lawrence’s posts are any indication.

There are few details on what to expect from the next Bad Boys, though one thing is clear. Michael Bay, who directed the first two films, will not return to helm the third. It was reported back in January that Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the duo behind the pilot of FX’s Snowfall and the movie Black, are taking over the project. Jerry Bruckheimer is returning as a producer.
