Midfielder Cole Alexander has revealed how his move to Kaizer Chiefs came about, and Stuart Baxter was influential in making it happen.
Baxter worked with Alexander for half-a-season at Indian Super League (ISL) outfit Odisha FC, and the pair reunited at Chiefs over a week ago.
Alexander said Baxter gave him a call offering him a chance to join Chiefs before receiving another call from the club itself.
He said the minute he got a call from Baxter, he knew he had to drop everything and head to Naturena for an opportunity of a lifetime.
At the time, he was on the books of Odisha, and had a year left to finish his contract with them.
But, he successfully negotiated his way out before securing the dream move to Naturena to link up with Baxter.
“In my journey coming here, I played in the ISL last season under the current coach, coach Baxter,” said Alexander.
“I got a call from him. I got a call from Chiefs, and didn’t look back again. I was fully committed to joining a club as big as this,” he said.
“I was with my family when I got the news, and as soon as I got the call, I told them and we were all so happy,” Alexander added.
