Bakkie e-hailing app Droppa has raised R2 million in new funding, and and now plans to launch in Cape Town first, to be followed by Durban, and Port Elizabeth.
“We are currently targeting the major metros and will take it from there,” says founder Khatutshelo Mufamadi.

The service, which was hoping to raise a total of R5 million by next year, caught the eye of Thabo Mofokeng, owner of technology consulting firm Solario Technologies. Mofokeng introduced Mufamadi to angel investor and Rain co-founder Phumlani Moholi, who liked the concept.
“I have always been in technology and always on the look out for new technologies coming out,” Moholi, the former chief technology officer of MTN, tells Business Insider.
Moholi says he wants to invest in the youth – and that it is about time black people invested in technology.
Mufamadi created Droppa after seven years in banking. He currently has a total of 150 bakkies and trucks registered on the app in Gauteng, up from 60 in June.
