Union to take govt to court over schools reopening

South Africa

Johannesburg – The Educators Union of South Africa (Eusa) is taking the government to court.

The union wants to stop schools reopening for Grade 7 and 12 pupils next week.

Eusa represents more than 27, 000 teachers.

The union says Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga and her department misled the public about supplying personal protective equipment (PPEs) and guaranteeing the safety of pupils and teachers.
