ZNBC Reporter Paul Shalala wins Jamal Kashoggi Award for Courageous Journalism

International award as a courageous journalist.

Shalala and four other journalists from Nigeria, Pakistan, United States of America and United Kingdom were the recipient journalists in the inaugural 2019 Jamal Kashoggi awards for courageous Journalism.

And Shalala an employee of ZNBC Kitwe received the recognition for the series of stories he covered on the youth criminal gangs on the Copperbelt who among the groupings included the Tokota Boys; 70 Niggas; The Hundreds, and the Mbwambwambwa.

Meanwhile Northern Region Media Club (NORMEC) Secretary Clinton Masumba said it is elating that Shalala is not only among the five winners, but also the only Zambian awarded among other brave journalists who expose abuse of power and corruption; share difficult truths and work in hostile environments.

And Chipata Press Club President Oswald Yambani II said encouraged more journalists in the country to be participating in global competitions.
