A girl aged 14, has been critically injured after she was hit by a gas cylinder on Ontdekkers Road in Newlands, west of Johannesburg, on Sunday evening, paramedics said.
It is alleged that that workers at a scrapyard across the road had been working on the gas cylinder when when they encountered a problem, causing the cylinder to fly across the road and hit the girl.
According to ER24, paramedics arrived on the scene to find the girl lying on the sidewalk. After further investigation, it was discovered that she had sustained injuries to both her legs and was in a critical condition. The cause of the problem is not yet known.
The girl was treated with advanced life support interventions by paramedics and later transported to Helen Joseph Provincial Hospital for further emergency treatment.
