Community leaders in Alexandra said on Friday there will be a total shutdown in the area on Monday.
The group intends on marching to Sandton to bring attention to their demands.
Residents gathered on Friday morning to discuss some of their concerns.
They invited Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba to experience their plight first-hand.
Mashaba hit back at the ANC over Wednesday’s shutdown, accusing the party of launching a disinformation campaign ahead of the elections.
Community leader Kenneth Mgaga said they are burning tyres on the streets because they want attention.
“We want the same services as others who live in suburbs,” he said.
Rays of Hope’s Sihle Mooi said Friday’s protest is a result of a long-time issue of political parties refusing to take responsibility for the area.
A non-profit organisation, Rays of Hope has been doing charity work in Alexandra for over two decades now.
The township was brought to a standstill on Wednesday.
Residents say they are tired of lawlessness, poor service delivery and the increasing number of informal structures in the area.
They also accuse authorities of doing nothing.
