Johannesburg – Bushy Maape is set to replace Job Mokgoro as the premier of North West.
The announcement was made at a media briefing in Mahikeng on Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, people opposed to Mokgoro’s removal took to the streets and burnt tyres in protest.
Mokgoro was appointed as premier of the province in 2018 following weeks of violent protests against his predecessor Supra Mahumapelo.
