Deputy President of South Africa David Mabuza on Wednesday concluded his working visit to the countries apart of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) in East Africa where he held consultations with heads of state and government, the presidency said.

Mabuza held bilateral discussions with President Salva Kiir Mayardit of the Republic of South Sudan; President Omar al-Bashir of the Republic of Sudan; President Yoweri Moseveni of the Republic of Uganda; and the President of Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta.

“South Africa working together with other leaders of the IGAD countries will continue to provide support for a successful implementation of peace agreement in South Sudan,” Mabuza said.

“I am particularly moved by the prevailing positive mood and level of optimism displayed by the signatories to the peace agreement and the Heads of States and Government as guarantors of this peace agreement.”

The deputy president met with the leadership of the Sudan People’s Liberation movement, the leadership of the South Sudan Opposition Alliance, the leadership of Former Detainees, the Conveners of the National Dialogue and members of Diplomatic Corps.

The working visit provided a platform to mobilise all key stakeholders behind the commitment to implement the Revitalised Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan.
