Addis Ababa – Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has said “law enforcement operations” in the northern state of Tigray are “proceeding as planned”.
Ahmed said in a tweet that the operations will cease after a criminal junta is disarmed, legitimate administrations in the region restore and fugitive have been apprehended and brought to justice.
“Our law enforcement operations in Tigray are proceeding as planned: operations will cease as soon as the criminal junta is disarmed, legitimate administration in the region restored, and fugitives apprehended & brought to justice — all of them rapidly coming within reach,” wrote Ahmed on Twitter.
He announced a military operation against the Tigray region after he alleged that regional troops had attacked a military command post hosting federal troops.
