Fortune Makaringe makes unfortunate headlines for Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates saved their first own goal of the 2021/22 DStv Premiership season fort heir final match of their campaign.

The Buccaneers lost 2-0 to SuperSport United in their 30th and final clash at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Monday.

The Soweto giants had managed to go 29 matches without conceding an own goal but couldn’t make it through their last match without doing so.

The unfortunate player to ‘score’ the own goal was 28-year-old Fortune Makaringe, who did so in the 20th minute.

Matsatsantsa went on to add a second goal from the penalty spot by Gamphani Lungu in the 69th minute to walk away with the three points which saw the Tshwane side finish in eight place in the final standings.

Orlando Pirates ended in fifth place.
