Johannesburg Murder-accused Nomia Rosemary Ndlovu said she took out a policy for her deceased boyfriend Maurice Mabasa because she was advised to do so.
The former police officer has been accused of killing five relatives and her lover.
Ndlovu then claimed from insurance companies after their deaths.
The case was adjourned for the days as Ndlovu said she is not feeling well.
The trial is set to resume on Friday.
