Johannesburg – Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi says he’s worried about the 30% of the Grade 12 learners who haven’t returned to schools in the province.
He says this has implications for the pupils transitioning into higher education.
The MEC also says close to 2,000 schools in Gauteng never had or never reported any Covid-19 incidents.
He says only 154 schools temporarily closed and re-opened.
The update was delivered by the Provincial Command Council on its response to the pandemic on Friday.
