Mkhwebane to face one less charge in perjury case

South Africa

Johannesburg – Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane will face one less charge in her perjury court case.

This relates to allegations that she intentionally lied under oath, about her investigation into an apartheid-era loan by the Reserve Bank to Bankorp.

The Pretoria Magistrate’s Court has postponed the matter until the end of September.

The postponement will allow Mkhwebane’s lawyers to make representation to the National Director of Public Prosecutions, Shamila Batohi, on the remaining charges.
