Kaizer Chiefs have announced that Nkosingiphile Ngcobo will wear a new shirt number for the 2021-2022 PSL season.
The club released a statement on Thursday confirming that Ngcobo will wear the legendary No.12 jersey.
Last season, Ngcobo was wearing the No.47 shirt at Chiefs and this is undoubtedly a massive upgrade for him.
This is, however, not surprising at all given the potential Ngcobo has displayed since making his professional debut from the Chiefs development.
The No.12 shirt is respected at Amakhosi as it was worn by stars who left as legends, including Ace Ntsoeleng, Ace Khuse and Thabo Mooki among others.
Ntsoelengoe was the first player to make the jersey famous as he wore it from 1970 and 1988. He went on to play for 18 years for the Glamour Boys and remains the longest serving player for Chiefs.
The last player to wear the No.12 was George Maluleka who left Amakhosi for Mamelodi Sundowns in 2019.
