Johannesburg – The Independent Police Investigative Directorate has arrested two police officers for allegedly trying to kill their partners.
A 29-year-old constable in the Eastern Cape allegedly shot his girlfriend and then took her to hospital, claiming she had been attacked by robbers.

He went on to open a case of attempted murder at a police station.
But when police took his girlfriend’s statement at the hospital, she told them it was, in fact, the constable who’d shot her after an argument.
The officer faces charges of attempted murder, defeating the ends of justice and perjury.

In the second case, a 31-year-old constable allegedly shot her boyfriend on Tuesday night, also apparently during an argument.
