Saftu seeks to suspend Zwelinzima Vavi

South Africa

Johannesburg – The South African Federation of Trade Unions (Saftu) is investigating its general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi for alleged financial and administrative violations.

The union has served Vavi with a letter of intention to place him on precautionary suspension.

He has until the end of business on Thursday to submit an explanation on why he should not be suspended.

Saftu said the investigation will also include allegations that Vavi disrespected or undermined constitutional structures and resolutions.
