The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has warned South Africans that scammers are robbing the old and vulnerable of their pensions.
Sassa in Gauteng carrying out an investigation into the scam that involves offers of grocery vouchers to unemployed South Africans.
Communication bearing the logos of Sassa, Shoprite and Pick n Pay offers those with valid identity documents the opportunity to receive vouchers valued at R2,200.
Unemployed citizens are directed to a website to register, using their ID numbers and proof of address.
SAPS and the National Credit Regulator are investigating the matter, Sassa has revealed.
