The world’s 10 most dangerous festivals

1. Cooper’s Hill Cheese-Rolling and Wake – England, UK

From the top of the hill, the cheese is sent rolling down and what ensues is near chaos as participants throw themselves down the steep hill chasing the 4kg wheel of cheese rolling at 112km/h. The first person over the finish line at the bottom of the hill wins the cheese. The competitors are aiming to catch the cheese; however, it has around a one-second head start.

2. Running of the Bulls – Spain

The 400-year-old tradition takes place each morning over eight days during the San Fermin festival in Pamplona in northern Spain. The encierro (the actual running of the bulls) is the event at the heart of the festival. Every year, people are injured and bulls have gored to death 15 people since 1924.
