Wits students are taking their protest over accommodation and transport to the Constitutional Court.
Some students have gone on a hunger strike.
The university was brought to a standstill when protesting students clashed with security guards on Tuesday morning.
In a statement on Twitter, the SRC said members would put their bodies on the line for a cause “that seeks to benefit the very same people we were elected to serve”.
The university was brought to a standstill because protesting students disrupted classes over registration and accommodation issues.
The SRC is, according to the Wits student publication, Vuvuzela, disrupted lectures after the university backed out on an agreement which stipulates that students owing less that R100 000 should be allowed to register.
Every student deserves a fair chance to get a good education, regardless of their financial situation!! #WitsHungerStrike pic.twitter.com/epj3ux6dRd
