Johannesburg – A criminal case was lodged against the national police commissioner on December 9 coming from the Independent Police Investigative Directorate.
IPID said Police Commissioner Khehla Sithole has failed to cooperate with the investigation into the murder of Charl Kinnear.

The Anti-Gang Unit detective was gunned down in 2020.
A court has already found Sithole guilty of breaching his duties.
President Cyril Ramaphosa announced his intention to suspend Sithole back in October.

He remains in charge of the South African Police Services.
The Police Ministry confirmed it has received the information on the charges from IPID. It says the letter will be referred to the president.

Meanwhile, IPID said the letter to the minister was confidential and condemned the leak.
