Covid-19 in SA: Expert says wearing of face masks vital

South Africa

Johannesburg Virology expert Professor Barry Schoub says it is still crucial for South Africans to continue wearing face masks.

The Health Department says it is still compulsory to wear a mask in enclosed indoor spaces, except for children in schools.

The country’s Covid-19 numbers are escalating and government has extended public submissions on draft Covid-19 regulations until July.

“I think there are very good reasons why we still need to wear masks in an indoor environment, clearly outdoor the risk is way less so we can be a bit more lenient in that but I think we still need to wear masks,” he said.
