Johannesburg – The EFF in Ekurhuleni is calling for the immediate dismissal of Sipho Mkhatshwa.
He is one of the three men accused of the rape and murder of 28-year-old Hillary Gardee.
Mkhatshwa works in the province’s Strategy and Corporate Planning department. He is the nephew of veteran politician Smangaliso Mkhatshwa.
In a statement, the EFF said Mkhatshwa must be dismissed to send a strong message against the brutal abuse, harassment and killing of women in South Africa.
The three accused are facing six charges, including rape, murder, kidnapping and defeating the ends of justice.
Former EFF secretary-general, Godrich Gardee’s daughter, Hillary, was laid to rest over the weekend.
