Johannesburg – President Cyril Ramaphosa said despite disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the mining sector remained resilient.
Ramaphosa was addressing the Mining Indaba in Cape Town.
He also said the mining sector showed the biggest growth across all sectors in 2021.
“Like all other industries, the pandemic caused significant disruption to mining operations but once again the industry has shown and demonstrated its resilience,” said Ramaphosa.
“In South Africa, mining registered growth of 11.8-percent in 2021 which was the largest across all our various industries in the economy.”
