The South Gauteng High Court has decided to endorse the ANC’s National Executive Committee decision to strip former North West Premier Supra Mahumapelo and his PEC of their powers.
Mahumapelo together with four others took the NEC to court because they felt the dissolution of their committee was procedurally defective, and had gone against the constitution of the ANC.
However, the ANC NEC says it took the decision due to the poor functionality of branches. The NEC dissolved the ANC leadership and appointed a task team led by Premier Job Mokgoro.
