The police in Western Cape are on the search for suspects who have been involved in armed robberies at churches.
At least two places of worship in Cape Town have experienced robbies in the last two months.
Members of Pastor Luvuyo Dwaba’s Higher Cross Baptist Church were robbed at gunpoint at the church premises in Philippi East.
“We were concluding the church service,” said Dwaba.
“I was standing in the front and one lady was walking out of the church. When she opened the door, there were guys outside.
“She immediately closed the door but those guys opened and forced to come inside.”
The congregants were forced to lie down by three robbers and hand over money and cellphones.
Dwaba said the robbers even tried to kill him.
They took a number of cellphones, money and a laptop.
Congregants sharing their testimonies. Children are still traumatized. But they thank God none of them got shot. Service continues at their pastor’s house, far away from Lower Crossraods where the church premises are. pic.twitter.com/9k6w9LxPxu
