Eskom’s Snehal Nagar has testified about an “unusual” prepayment made to Tegeta of R600-million.
He claims he was under pressure from Eskom’s Chief Financial Officer.
The command, he says, came directly from Anoj Singh’s office.
“I want to call it fooling the system. There is a request from the highest office or one of the highest offices in Eskom.”
Less than two hours later, the transfer was sorted.
Nagar claims he pressed for paperwork and that it arrived late, bearing the signatures of Singh, acting head of legal Suzanne Daniels and interim group CEO, Matshela Koko.
There was, however, no contract between Eskom and Tegeta for coal from Optimum.
Proceedings resume on Friday.
